What lost commercials do you guys find interesting? Ive heard about the 2004 racist mcdonalds ad, do you guys know of any other interesting commercials?
That one law firm advertisement that was lost for a while with the background music that scared tons of kids is so interesting to me. Just the fact that it was a widespread source of fear when in reality it isn't really scary at all is so weird and funny.
The lost Orlando Abraham Lincoln Pizza Parlor commercial.
Can you give more details? (Sorry)
It's a thread on the forums, but in brief one person remembers seeing a pizza commercial themed around Abraham Lincoln somehow. They assumed it was an Abe Lincoln themed pizza restaurant, personally I subscribe to the "Lincoln = $5 bill = $5 deal promotion" theory. Either way I believe it's a real commercial even if it's only been remembered by one person thus far.
Well, I've already discussed the Winchester Mystery House drive-in ad* and the second, short lived commercial for the Gut Buster exercise device from 1987 (at the end of the product's life), so no need to go into too much detail about those here.
There's not really a whole lot that I'm looking for that's left other than those. Well, there's the 1970s animated Mott's apple juice ad with the crudely animated apples (in grid formation) singing the Mott's jingle (“Mott’s, Mott’s, Motts...the finest apples in Apple Land, make Mott’s apple juice taste grand, mmmmmmm…”). I was actually scared of this commercial as a kid, but the reason is a way too long and complicated story to go into here.
There's also an ad for some bathroom cleaning product from the 1980s where a lady says, "You wouldn't use eau de toilette to clean the toilette." I have NO idea what it's a commercial for.
There's also a 1970s ad for Lucky supermarkets that I don't actually remember, but I remember my dad's imitation of the woman in the commercial. She said something like, "Lucky beef! I knew it would be good, but I didn't think it would be...good!"
And, I was just reminded of a commercial for Yoplait Custard Style Yogurt starring Isabel Sanford, who thinks the pitchman is crazy for suggesting she eats it with a fork. But in the end, she is delighted by the results, triumphantly exclaiming, "La fourchette!"
*There's a drive-in ad for the WMH up now, but it is NOT the iconic one with the woman saying "Keep building!" And there's WAY more drive-in ads I remember seeing, but I hold zero hope in ever finding them. Like the funny ad for the Pizza Den (pizza restaurant located approximately here, across the street from the Hilltop Drive-In) that mentions "mushy-roomy-room sauce!" and has the chef wearing the pizza dough in the end.
I read that Richard Simmons did some commercials around 1968-1969 while studying art in Florence. While he was still 268 pounds. One was of a dancing meatball singing a jingle, another was a chubby Peter Pan who couldn’t fly, another was some sort of Italian Fruit of the Loom, and one more was some sort of cheese conveyor belt, ala I Love Lucy. If anyone knows if these commercials still exist somewhere, post them!
I also remember a commercial from around August 2001, for a hair gel product. Middle schooler named Johnny puts some in his hair and suddenly he’s the most popular kid in school, and with the girls. I was always so insanely jealous of that kid and his perfect hair. I just still remember those girls going “hiiiii Johnnnyyyy.” And it’s been literally 23 years since I last saw this commercial.
I also remember one from late 2002 for Backyard Football, and it featured former Eagles QB Donovan Mcnabb. Haven’t seen that since 2002-2003 either.
I just remembered another one. From around 1994 or 1995 for McDonald’s. Dude is on a park bench about to eat his burger, and some lady comes up and asks for one small bite. She eats the entire thing and he just stands there with the crusts like “ummm … wtf?” This one was always one of my favorite McDs ads that I still remember like yesterday.
Oh man there was one commercial where it was like this babysitting service right, it had this gag where the "bad" babysitter served a kid spaghetti but it was worms or something, of course it freaked my 6 y/o self out but I swear this is lost media. Nowhere on the internet I've been able to find this with any keywords or descriptions.

There’s those mysterious black and white commercials from 2002-3ish I remember about I think children’s education or safety or something that I’ve NEVER been able to find. I remember them because of their iconic piano theme…I think they must have been a local thing.
Just remembered the 1980s Wendy's ads produced by DFS/Dorland that WEREN'T the "Where's the Beef?" commercial. They had a whole bunch of funny ads, but only one that caught on. Most of them were way, way quirkier and weirder than the "Where's the Beef?" one. I remember one with a catatonic looking cashier with a pin on her uniform that read "HY!" There was another one spoofing McDonald's then-new Chicken McNuggets in which a fast food place introduces a new chicken snack, but nobody can identify which part of the chicken they came from. Perhaps they're not truly "lost," but good luck finding them when any search just comes up with the one ad everyone's already seen.
