Hello! I'm looking for this song which was taken from a DJ set. I've done loads of manual digging, especially on Discogs and WFMU but I haven't found anything. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnGL_Iz2hIY
Here are some stuff that's known about it:
● Released on vinyl, LP-Album.
• Black label with a single line of text on the bottom (Most likely a copyright and reproduction warning text) and 5 rows of text on the left side (Most likely the tracklisting for one of the sides) There is also a small print above this text, which is most likely the turntable speed and stereo/mono label.
• Images of said label with one remake with my interpretation on what it looks like: imgur.com/a/7lpXlkj
● It was also featured on an unknown WFMU show.
• It was played in its entirety and it is 6-7 minutes long.
• It apparently was one of the first songs of the program.
• It was aired between May-August of 2005. Claimed to be at least.
• It's assumed it was played on a show straight after Fabio's Strength Through Failure.
Looking at some archived tables, Diane's Kamikaze Fun Machine came afterward. However, the correct program is either outside the time interval or it was played on a completely different show as I've checked all of May-Aug 2005. I have also reached out to Diane regarding this track and she did not recognize it. However, considering WFMU is located in New Jersey and if the band behind BOD is more of a local band, maybe a good attempt at something that didn't go anywhere major, then it would make a lot of sense for an obscure band such as BOD to not be known too much outside of NJ and therefore only known locally and promoted on WFMU. Considering Diane's show plays metal and it has been confirmed it's metal, the chance it was played on Kamikaze Fun Machine is much higher and all hope is not lost. (Although I'm taking a break from WFMU digging as it's extremely tedious)
● It has a long vocal intro with bells. It is also very heavy and has progressive elements. Quite unique style too. It also has a crazy guitar and an orchestral feel to it. The electric bass is also "nuts" in the bridge of the song with a crazy phaser and intense electric guitar solo after the chorus.
According to the DJ himself, he has forgotten the source, but he thinks it came off some metal album from New Jersey. This further proves that it was played on WFMU and that it is metal.
The DJ also played various metal songs on the mix, all tagged as "Heavy Metal" on Discogs, which would make sense that this also falls into that category in this case.
The artist and song title is NOT known, but the song is mainly known as "Better Off Dead" or "BOD" for short (due to the lyrics heard in the song).
It's also most likely from the 80's due to the sound, especially the drums.
Any ideas? I'm out of luck here!
