The Catholic Church is the only institution from the Roman Empire still around to this very day and has been in a continuous state of existence.
Think about that. An institution founded in Ancient Rome is still around to this very day and not only has it been in continuous existence from the time of the Roman Empire onward, it is a major and well-known institution as well.
Speaking of which, Constantine XI, the last Roman Emperor, lived far closer to our own time than he did to Romulus and Remus, the Tarquins, the Roman Republic, or the entirety of the Principate.
