What is the craziest video game rumor you have ever heard?

I sometimes miss 2005-06 when the playground word of mouth held as much veracity as a gaming website or magazine. It was a lot easier to come up with all sorts of BS. GTA: San Andreas seemed to be the most popular game to spread rumors about for some reason.

I fell for the Bigfoot hoax and spent so much damn time looking for the fucker. I really thought he would appear out of nowhere. I also spent time looking for Leatherface and Freddy. Never did find any of them...

There were other weird rumors. I remember a rumor going around that there was a secret final mission in GTA: San Andreas - the Kanker Sisters from Ed Edd n Eddy were the real antagonists, and secretly were the leaders of the Loco Syndicate and created the crack crisis in Los Santos. You would have received a call from Cesar and you would have picked him and Sweet up and go to a trailer park to fight the Kankers and end the game for good. You had to complete the game 100% and find a secret jawbreaker to trigger the mission. I'm sure this was some BS rumor created by the kids at places like Edtropolis mostly as a joke that kids on the internet thought was 100% real - we wanted to believe. It was loosely inspired by another more documented rumor - that the Epsilon Program missions could be triggered secretly.

Other BS rumors: you could go to the moon with the flying cars cheat, you could find Bikini Bottom and SpongeBob, you could go to China/Mexico, Mario/Sonic were hiding to be found in the game somewhere, you could get abducted by/meet aliens and their UFO, all sorts of whack-o shit. God I miss being a 2000s kid sometimes...
