What is the craziest video game rumor you have ever heard?

The infamous Chocolate Factory level in SMB1. Not much to say here except that it was possibly one of the first Video Game rumours ever and something to do with going to World 2 i guess?

Alright I’ll explain both.

1.in the so called “Grinch leak” it didn’t show the Grinch in it but the same printing facility having posters for the then upcoming 2018 grinch film hence explaining the name.

2.It was Yoshi in the prank not Wario,and if I’m remembering correctly it was actually from Nintendo Power and was intended as an April Fools prank,but they didn’t take into account shipping times and created the infamous “Playground Rumor” that is still discussed in threads and videos like this one.

I'll start out with the obvious ones that were widespread that I ran across "in the wild" back when I was a kid. 

1. Aerith secretly living

2. Akuma in RE2. I shamefully will admit that five-year old me tried to do this one.

3. Bigfoot and UFO's in GTA San Andreas. I never went explicitly looking for the urban legends in San Andreas but I genuinely believed they were real when I was a kid.

4. Kimeramon in Digimon World 2. Apparently this was less of a total fake and more of cut content that was left in the strategy guides. Supposedly, Kimeramon was planned for the game and is in the code for the Japanese release but even that was fully scrubbed for the North American and PAL releases.

One I remember that I'm unsure if it was a widespread rumor or just a local one concerned the PS2 version of Dead Or Alive 2.

Allegedly, there was a secret "nude option" that allowed all the ladies (plus Ryu Hayabusa some reason) to fight completely naked if you beat all the female character's story modes and Ryu Hayabusa's story modes back-to-back within a certain time limit and without losing a single fight. There was even a specific order.

IIRC, you started with Lei Fang, then Tina, then Helena, then Ayane, then Kasumi, and finally Ryu Hayabusa. 

And yeah, I actually tried to do this and actually did it after trying a dozen times but then I found out it was complete bullshit.

As a child in the late 90s, I used to play on and own several of those handheld brick game consoles. I heard a rumor that if you completed every game on one of those devices, that would unlock the hidden game Pac Man which wasn't true. I don't even know if you could complete any of the brick games or you just kept getting more and more points in them.

I have a number from Pokemon:

1. I heard a rumor just after the dub anime started and the first episode aired where Ash saw the then unknown golden bird Pokemon flying over a rainbow which was Ho-Oh in Gen 2. The rumor I heard was that in Gen 1 Pokemon RGBY games you could get that rainbow bird Pokemon in the games. You first had to have all 3 legendary birds, Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno. Then you had to have an item known as a Rainbow Stone. You used the Rainbow Stone on all 3 legendary bird Pokemon at the same time. This would morph them all into one Pokemon, the Rainbow bird from the anime. Not only is there no Rainbow Stone, but you can't actually use an item on multiple Pokemon at the same time, nor did multiple Pokemon fuze into one.

2. In Gen 3 games RSE, if you look out the window of the ship that goes between Lilycove and Slateport, on rare occasions you could see in a hard to reach area with the fast flowing moving water, a small pink boat.

3. In Gen 3 RSE, When you complete all the Trick Masters challenges in the Trick House, after he leaves the note saying he is away looking for new tricks, at some point he would return and have either more challenges for you to do or he would take you to a place where you could catch rare Pokemon found nowhere else in the game.

4. In Emerald, you could have a small chance to find and potentially catch a golden Sudowoodo (like the one in the Anime) around the outside of the Battle Frontier.

5. In Gen 3 RSE, there was supposed to be a way to unlock Kanto so you could go there and catch the Pokemon not in the games to complete the national dex. I heard this before FireRed/LeafGreen came out and I didn't even know about them. I have heard others say they heard it was Johto you were supposed to go to.

6. In Gen 3 RSE, if you went to Mossdeep City and used a Wish Tag while standing at the White Rock, you could battle and catch Jirachi as the rock was Jirachi in its sleeping form. There was no Wish Tag item in the game so that didn't happen.

7. One rumor I head around 2011-2012 was that sometime after Gen 4 and 5 games, there was going to be new main series games set in Hoenn. This was around the time people were starting to want RSE remakes. However, these games were not going to be remakes of the RSE games, instead they were going to be set in the same timeline as Gen 2 and 4 games (3 years after the events of Gen 1 and 3) so the storyline would line up with those games. The storyline was going to be that within the 3 years from the timeline of Gen 3 to Gen 2 and 4, something bad happened to Hoenn so the storyline was going to be much darker due to this.

The Webkinz evil present rumor, according to the rumor, a random present would appear in your Webkinz home when you opened the present, a whole bear would come out and kill you Webkinz while you sat powerless watching your Webkinz die in a bloody mess.
