I have a hdd not ssd you know I'm going to be fucked one day but my hdd has two copies of a disney internal ftp containing media from 2005 - 2016 or later and I'm to my knowledge the only person with a copy as if you remember I opened a subsite something like ro-archive.xyz/ftps and it had direct connections to it without leaking the username, password, server name of both ftps turns out those two were ddosed to death using my site without my knowledge util one day I tried using /ftps/ and it gave a no ftp login found error. 💀
So yeah I'm basically stuck to gatekeeping the stuff due to the massive number of files and how long it takes to archive it all.
I think this is less gatekeeping and more to do with the long process of locating and archiving them all.
True media gatekeeping would be that you find a piece of lost media that you know people or at least someone is looking for but instead of uploading it for everyone to see you instead intentionally keep it to yourself for some reason, this applies even more to collectors though in their case if they upload whatever lost media they're in possession of then it'll decrease the value.

Yeah, it's really hard when you have a lot of stuff on your computer to upload all of them (for example my archive has about 500GB and 10.000 files)
