How long is too long for a piece of media? Like ow many chapters is too much for a book? how many volumes is too many for a comic or manga series? How many episodes is too much for a TV show and how many movies and video games with sequels, sinofff, prequels, reboots, remakes, and whenever else is way too much for a movie and video game series? Some series like the One Piece manga and anime I can't get into because of how many volumes the manga has and how many episodes the anime has which is in the thousands range of numbers.

I can also think of a few video games that have the same problem like the Assassin's Creed series, Fnaf, and a lot of rpgs and first person shooters. The guitar hero franchise is definitely the one franchise that got way too many games and spin offs.

Same with Rock Band.
Plus the sheer amount of accessories for games like Rock Band and Skylanders
Its less "seasons" for me and more the proliferation of prequels, spinoffs, new shows/movies, "fillers," "cameo products," etc. that I personally find overwhelming.
Pluto doesn't seem like a horrible anime but I could not get through the show because the episodes were movie length. It sort of made it harder to watch in chunks and I just gave up.
For me it depends on the genre for films at least, i've never seen a horror film that justified being 2 hours or more(looking at you Suspiria remake)
And comedies too. Most never exceed the hour 45 minute mark.
Yeah I mostly, I can make an exception for action-comedies maybe(and action-horror stuff like the Blade movies) but regular-ass comedies definitely don't need to be 2 hours or more.
There's a lot of anime that are still running that I can't get into because just catching up would take over my life like Detective Conan and One Piece. Pokemon I only make an exception for cause I grew up watching it.

With Pokémon you find a gen you wanna watch and you stick with it.
Finding what service has which gen is the hard part.

The manga is great.
On that note, I actually often find it MUCH easier to consume manga than watch anime, probably because I read so much quicker than I watch shows. I mostly watch the anime when I want to see certain things animated, or see cool action scenes or something. I just don't feel the call to consume hundreds of episodes worth of content, filler included to be an "authentic fan." I skipped all of the Naruto filler and feel like I'm no less of a fan for doing so.

it's the opposite for me cause I just cannot get used to the whole "Reading from right to left" thing.

Honestly, I don't think there's a such thing as 'too long', it all just depends on what you're doing with it.
I've seen films that are over 2 hours long and are fully engaging and you don't even realize how long the film is and I've also seen films that are like 90 minutes long but feel so much longer because of how much of an utter slog they were, y'know?
It's the same thing with long-running franchises as well, like I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who and that show has been on the air since 1963 (albeit with a gap between the end of the original run in 1989 and the series' revival in 2005, with a TV movie in 1996 in the middle of that) and is going to premiere its 40th season in May and yet I don't think the series has gone on for too long. But there's also other series I've seen that have had much, much shorter runs that still overstayed their welcome.
