There's also apparently a horror movie already in production called "Mickey's Mouse Trap" and it's like... it's to be expected but at the same time it's not like anything else outside of the realm of horror has done anything unique with Steamboat Willie yet.
This was probably in the works for a while but kept quiet until SW went public domain to avoid the wrath of the mouse, same with that Pokemon fan project Pokemon Uranium that was in development since 2006 but nobody breathed a word of it until it was ready so that way Nintendo couldn't serve them with a cease and desist like they'd done to other fan projects.
