Any of you who were freaked out by (or fascinated with) closing logos, did you ever develop a fear/uneasiness around black screens (especially screens that were turned off) because they reminded you of such logos?
Here’s my story… (tbh, me, logos, and black screens go way way back!) I got into closing logos when I was like 6-7 years old, and became not very fond of quite a few in the process. Many of the ones that freaked me out played on—you guessed it—black screens. Therefore, I tried to stay away from black screens as much as I could, especially at night when everything was turned off (I always had to have some type of light in my room when I slept). I just kept having this uneasy feeling inside of me about certain logos, be it their music or their animation or their overall jarring nature, and I couldn’t sleep!! I recall one specific incident that happened when I was about 7, in which my father made me come out to the dimly-lit living room and look at the turned-off TV, and I still couldn’t do it despite his presence and the lighting! To this day, I still sleep with something to ease me (these days, it’s less light and more music, specifically sleep music on YouTube on my firestick or this local radio station that plays classical and smooth jazz).
