A YOUTUBE COMMENT STATES "I had the pleasure of working on this project all three seasons that it was in Albany. So glad to hear the recordings of the music I loved. Joe Raposo was pure genius!"
What exactly are we looking for here? Are we looking for a recording of the show, like the original Rent cast? Are we looking for missing choreography, like The Rite of Spring? Are we looking for the book? Costumes? Sets? Props? Theatre is a cold medium; things change between every performance.

We're looking for any signs of the script.
Actual footage was recorded according to some resources, but that's the next step.

Gotta find the script!
Ok. I know some people in the business, and it seems like this would be something people still might perform in small kids/community groups, so it might still be available to buy. I'm going to send a couple of messages to people asking how obtaining script licences work. After that, all we have to do is figure out who owns the rights.
But we're looking for the other play. It seems the play didn't do very well, although it was retooled under the name Rag Dolly, and that worked better. Maybe Dramatic Publishing had the rights for that too? If they don't have it, Simon & Shuster might have a copy in their archives, as they would have likely had to approve everything in the show.

Raggedy Ann the musical was first performed at a school. The play was aimed towards children. But, there was things in the play that wasn't suitable for children. Suicide, drugs, alcohol, etc. They renamed the musical to rag dolly for obvious reasons. And it went on broadway in Albany for I believe two shows. We're looking for both scripts of the play, since no one has performed it again.

If it's lost, how are people getting copies of the soundtrack?

It was an official cast recording, which means it went on broadway. The cast specifically sang those songs for people to listen to.
They sound bootleg, but everything checks out.
Yeah, those recordings do sound rough.
Could you source your information? That might help get some more leads.
Things to Check Out: 1. Where was this performed? Where was it workshopped? 2. Can we contact cast and crew members? 3. How did those bootleg recordings go public? (This is the 1980s; pretty sure downloading music files was a royal pain back then.) 4. What companies were involved? 5. Is it available in Russia?
This is a personal list for my own reference.

I can only solve a couple.
1. It was performed in Albany.
2. Ivy Austin was the lead. She has her own website.
3. I honestly don't know. The youtube comments are all like, "OMG RAG DOLLY IS MY FAVORITE" So maybe it's not bootleg? That's the real question.
4. I searched and couldn't find much info on that.

There are so, so many people who mainly get their musical fix from the soundtracks, not from watching the shows. Broadway is darn expensive. This includes the boy who would grow up to be Broadway's golden boy, Lin-Manuel Maranda.
By "is it available in Russia", I meant, if it was more successful in Russia, it might be available in Russia.

We found a copy of The Passion of Joan of Arc in an asylum; Raggedy Ann could turn up in Russia. Will she? Who knows. It's not like we've got a ton of leads.
Then again, if the rights holders don't want anything to do with the project, it's basically fair game.
I don't know if Ivy Austin could help us, but she has a website: www.ivyaustin.com/
