I remember watching Cartoon Network (in 2013ish) and seeing a commercial for a show. But I don't think the show itself actually aired on Cartoon Network. Rather, the commercial told you to go to a YouTube channel and all the episodes of the show were on the channel for free.
The show had an anime artstyle but I don't know if it was really an anime. Their marketing strategy was definitely to make it seem like the show was similar to Pokemon to entice Pokemon fans to check it out. I believe the commercial aired during or after an episode of Pokemon.
The show had a male child/teen protagonist and he was friends with a yellow anthropomorphic dragon/dinosaur creature with a horn on its nose.
