Also on a similar note, while I DO feel warm nostalgia for the OG Flintstones and it WAS super influential and admirable for its status in both animation and television history...was it ever that good??? I remember trying to catch some episodes during the Pandemic, and it may have just been "seasonal rot," but it didn't particularly keep my interest.
Maybe you got so burned out by it while you were young that you kinda moved on and never wanted to go back.
I feel this way about The Simpsons and Family Guy. I watched both so much as a kid that I got burned out by them quickly, and haven't really wanted to go back, despite some very nostalgic feelings for both.
I still enjoy both but not as much as I did when I was younger.

Even when I was watching that show on my grandmothers house on CN and Boomerang I don't remember ever being all that impressed by it. I liked the more modern movies like On the Rocks and Flintstones Meet the Jetsons but i feel like the original show was mostly remembered for being the first animated show aimed at adults(well that and the ads for Winston Cigarettes)but if you look past that it does not really hold up, same with The Jetsons(I prefer the 80s version of that show myself).
Since we've been talking about MeTv Toons in other chats, I decided to give "Rocky & Bullwinkle" another try after giving it a try many years ago.
I've tried giving it my attention and watched several episodes, but I don't like the animation and the humor in it still doesn't appeal to me.
I used to have some R&B VHS tapes as a kid and I remember liking it at the time and I did occasionally catch it when we stayed late at my grandmothers house but it's been ages since i've actually seen it so I have absolutely no idea if it'll still hold up for me or not, I do like the live-action movie though.

The Simpsons and Family Guy aren't the only ones. I was really into Robot Chicken as a kid and I stopped caring for it around 2008-09. I loved American Dad in the late 2000s and early 2010s but haven't really followed it since 2013. I was a South Park nut from 2008 to about 2013 but that phase has ended. My love for Aqua Teen Hunger Force started in the early 00s and continued much longer but that eventually wore off. If this counts as an adult cartoon, I was also really into Total Drama for a while and briefly got back to it again in 2018 but moved on.
So yeah, I get burned out from adult cartoons lol.

Glad you brought up Robot Chicken because I honestly really never got into that show aside from a few random sketches, for me sitting through an entire episode was a challenge as for every sketch that worked there were like five others that just failed miserably so I found it more enjoyable to just watch the actually funny ones on Youtube(I.E. Mario in GTA, the Toy Story one with Andy in college, the Sonic one, etc)and ignore the rest. Hell I would've never even known that show existed if Family Guy hadn't referenced it multiple times.
I think American Dad has actually gotten even better since you stopped following it so i'd recommend getting back in(wish we'd get a premiere date for the new season already, especially since it looks like it's going to be the last one with TBS not doing anymore scripted stuff).
Aqua Teen Hunger Force was a show I could never get into, the random humor just never landed for me and I just found myself bored by it and the characters.

I've always liked "random" (non-sequitur) type of humor, so Robot Chicken and Aqua Teen Hunger Force hit the spot. I also liked MAD TV, which fun fact, had much of the Robot Chicken cast work on that (which is why it was "Robot Chicken for Kids", even though a lot of the sketches on their own are great humor).
I'll try to get back into American Dad though. I always liked it more than Family Guy or South Park because it never tried to be overtly "offensive" or gross; it focused way more on the dialogue and situational humor. Plus Roger is my homie.
Speaking of shows I couldn't get into, Drawn Together definitely falls into that category for me. I'll be honest, Total Drama was Drawn Together done right.

Total Drama was OK for me but I kinda lost interest after the first season and didn't really keep up with the show after that.
I never really got that much into the major sketch comedy shows like SNL or MadTV personally, I preferred stuff like "The State", "Short Circuitz" and "Key and Peele".

OH GAHH Robot Chicken. That may be the number 1 candidate for show I DO NOT like that everyone else seems to like. I don't think a single sketch I watched made me laugh once, outside of those out of context uses of "WHAT A TWIST" in other media. Not sure why. I can sometimes like the stop motion animation style and some of its manic energy, but beyond that, nah. It didn't help either that when some family and I tried to watch it, it was referencing Punky Brewster which I didn't EVEN know existed as a show (I was pretty behind on my 80s stuff at the time, TBF). I had missed out a lot of media it referenced due to a (fairly) culturally strict upbringing, so I couldn't even find humor in the parody aspect of the whole thing. So what's the point?

Part of me wonders if "younger, developing brains" (especially children's brains) are just naturally more accepting of more repetitive media. Like as an adult, I can easily pick up on overused tropes, overused characters, overused dialogue, variations on the same plot over and over, etc. But you are still "learning" as you grow up into your 20s and consume more and more media, so you can simply be more comfortable with watching the same thing over and over as you process it.

I knew about Punky Brewster somewhat but I still didn't find it funny, part of the problem with RC is far too often it assumes that merely referencing something is inherently funny in itself.

The only thing I have ever seen on command from that show is the "Weird Al" Weasel Stomping Day music video. Other than that, I hate the show.
