there are some more obscure media im trying to find
and that is two kinds of media
the first is a book that they used on me (and possibly many other kids) as a way to diagnose autism
it was a childrens book that featured a zoo setting and as you read the book there were complex words like flumbergasted or other words like that that get more complex as you read
if the kid couldn't read the complex words the doctors would then try to get the kid to read the book as a picture book
all i remember was that i read this book when i was 4 or 5 at the chedoke evel pavilion in hamilton ontario
(which as you may know was used as the set for the prison/mental insitution in IT chapter 2 and no longer exists, being replaced by houses and apartments)
another book im trying to find is another dreaded canadian hood classic
and that is some brochure (which was more like a magazine) that was shown to kids whenever they were sent to special ed (or any special needs related thing in that matter)
its esencially a magazine that they show you to try and normalize being in a special needs setting by showing the kid the kinds of things they can do while in that kind of setting (like bowling, celebrating christmas or doing community service (which doesn't actually happen)
if you live in canada and are ever shown that magazine that means your life as an everyday citizen is screwed
pretty much
the first book is a book that kinda looks like a robert munch book (or any other childrens book from the 90s in that style) (this book might be in the archives of hamilton health sciences but may also be in the possession of other hospitals across canada like sick kids)
while the second magazine looks like a book from the early 90s (with the entire book having that core vaporwave/core 90s feel to it) but it might not even be from the 90s (as alot of institutional things have that core vaporwave vibe to it), it also is a magazine that is shown at special needs programs like cornerstones or woodview but it is mainly seen in the special needs division of hamilton district school board
(the last time i saw it was when they tried to force me into another special needs program in 2018 or so at one of the community centers near me)
