I'm not sure what your style is, but I'm a fan of the weird experimental type shit. I'm sure something here might pique your interest. I'll also have trigger warning disclaimers for some of them in case it's not something you're up for. All of these are either on YouTube or Vimeo, so that's a bonus.
Here's a good handful in no particular order:
* Le Poeme (1985): [CW: Medical gore, 18+] This is transcendental for me and I would recommend it to anyone who likes gritty, experimental films. If you're a fan of Stan Brakage, the (possible) homage to his 1971 film The Act of Seeing With One's Own Eyes might not be missed by you. Due to the NSFW nature of it, I won't be linking it. It's on the director's Youtube channel though.
* Harvey (2002): [CW: Domestic violence, body horror] This one is a bit of an oddity I found out about from the horror sub about a year ago. It's a very on the nose metaphor for toxic, codependent relationships and I'm not sure that's something a ton of people would be on board for. But hey, it's not too shabby.
* Erodium Thunk (2018): This one feels like it's plucked out of Adult Swim in a really neat way.
* Attack of the Killer Refrigerator (1990): Just a delightful, silly, low budget, shot-on-video opener that tells you exactly what you're in for. Stupid good fun.
* It Took Guts (1979): A gritty, gory little gem that, from when I looked into it, was a hit in the underground film scene.
* Smile (2006): [CW: Unreality] This has been one of my absolute favorites for years. It's a great blend of mixed media styles and creates a terrific and terrifying amount of paranoia and tension in something under ten minutes/
* Within the Darkness (1978): If you're a fan of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, this is just mandatory viewing as the thing that would become The Evil Dead.
* Fall of the House of Usher (1928): If you're a fan of experimental films, check out this one. It's short and silent, but the dreamy atmosphere it creates is top notch.
* Rejected (2000): Just about everyone has seen this or at least knows of it in some way. Just a classic.
* The Sandman (1991): Another classic with wonderful animation.
There's another film I'd mention, but I'm having a hard time remembering the name to find it on Letterboxd. It's one of the most uniquely animated films I've seen in a very long time, and is as chaotic as it is fascinating. But if I find it, I'll make a new post.
