I am wondering if anybody remembers or knows about a night time screen after Nick Jr finished? (Making this post on behalf of someone who commented on a Tiktok video of mine a few months ago but I’ve been curious about this since) apparantly it’s of a woman with snakes in her hair (Medusa) this person states it was definitely a thing and apparantly this woman would slowly pop her head up on screen and then there was a spinning chain and then she would pop up on a different side of the screen. This is the only information I have, does this sound familiar at all to anybody? I’m not sure when it’s from I’m assuming the late 90s at the earliest up until the late 2000s.
(Edit: By the way I’m pretty much certain this person meant Nick Jr UK)

I'm not familiar with this, but it's worth noting that Nick Jr. didn't become its own channel until 2009, until then when Nick Jr 'ended' it would just go to normal Nickelodeon shows, and not anywhere near 'night time' either as the block would end in the afternoon (the Nick Jr block currently on Nickelodeon is the same).
Could be Noggin I guess? I didn't watch the channel that much, only tuning in for The N once it had already gone off air (Noggin and The N shared a channel, this switchover makes more sense than thinking about Nick Jr)
Nick Jr in the US aired on Nickelodeon from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm in the 2000s it wasn't until 2009 that it launched its own separate channel. So their is no way this could have been Nick Jr if this was before 2009. One thing that it could be is Noggin however starting in 2002, Noggin would go off at about 6 and become the N, it typically ended with Moose and Zee (the cartoon host) leaving the classroom and singing a goodbye song. So I'm not exactly sure where this person saw a Medusa screen as preschool channels were long over with by the time night time rolled around.

I think they meant Nick Jr UK but not sure if that was much different as growing up all I remember is the cat bumper thing on repeat until it went off aid so not sure where they saw it

I'm thinking of Evilhamburger64's video on Scary Logos, where he talked about the Nick Jr closedown bumper, when it finished, a photo of a man starring in the screen from his office strangely played on the channel.

If it helps anyone, this person replied to me again and said they think it was before Nick Jr Classics or Noggin launched. They said they think it was the early 2000s between 2000-2003 time and came on after The Blues Clues Bedtime song was sang
They said most likely 2000-2001 time, 2002 at the latest before the shutdown screen with the bouncing characters such as Bob the Builder and Dora on was introduced (I believe this one was introduced 2002 and lasted until 2005?
Of course this is describing a man. This post is describing a medusa. It's very possible both MTV Dance had these as a form of startup, or linked into a music video. Whatever MTV Dance would have broadcast, would have appeared on Nick Jr in those few seconds.
MTV Dance originally started out as a night-time programming slot on the now defunct digital music channel MTV Extra. It was on air each night from 7pm until the following morning.
On 3 September 2001, The strand expanded to become a standalone music channel broadcast on Sky in both the United Kingdom and Ireland, where it initially timeshared with the Nick Jr. Channel every evening between 19:00 and 06:00. The sharing of a stream subsequently ended; since 13 August 2002 MTV Dance has broadcast as a 24-hour music channel.
I agree, this is likely to be where the "Medusa" thing originated from.

Hope this clears some things up
They had the Nick Jr classics block airing from 8 til 10pm, so this MTV Dance startup might have started after 10pm, or maybe 8pm before the classics block started in May 2004.

Okay so I've just made a discovery that I think very much matches with this description. The MTV Dance timeshares are completely out of the question.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHnoI__e5Cw This is the off-air loop for a movies service in the UK called 'Front Row'. When a channel went off air on Telewest/NTL etc, it would redirect you to this loop for Front Row (which was Channel 0 at the time I believe.) This is proven because people have commented on other uploads of this loop saying they saw it when, say, CBeebies closed for the day, or Nick Jr closed for the day. The woman has snakes in her hair and there is a spinning chain.

This loop MAY be what your friend saw.
This one was solved some time ago in a different thread but it was indeed the Front Row promos
