I’ve been recently doing some research into the development of the criminally underrated series by Guillermo del Toro named “Trollhunters”, and I think there might be atleast a lost film version of the first season, but possibly that and 1 or 2 pilots.
Why? Well for the potential pilots… back in 2006 Guillermo del Toro pitched Trollhunters to FOX as a Live Action series alongside another show, but the pitch was rejected due to budget concerns (because the higher-ups were worried having CGI monsters as part of the main cast would be too expensive to handle)

And at some point he also pitched it to DreamWorks as a film, which did end up getting accepted.
I think that a pilot could’ve been made for these 2, it makes sense, right? A pilot usually gets made with a pitch.
In my personal opinion, a pilot for the dreamworks one could’ve been made, but the book that was made was likely what was used instead. Though with the 2006 pitch, there was no book or anything, they had to pitch it somehow and I don’t think it was just through words.
As for the potentially lost film, as I mentioned earlier; DreamWorks accepted the pitch as a feature-length film before eventually reworking it into a TV series.
We know that the film was being worked on for 3-4 years before it was changed into a TV show, and that is quite a bit of time for a semi-complete/mostly-complete film to be made. So, that begs the question; is it possible that we could see it one day? This would be quite difficult to get our hands on if it was confirmed to exist, but maybe, just maybe we could.
Also, Id like to note that I actually found a screenshot of an old logo for the film (screenshot below) with some concept art for Blinky in an article I’ll link as a source

What do you guys think? I’d like to have some other opinions on this.
Thanks!
