I've been on the hunt for episodes of a sitcom called "Blue Skies," which aired on ABC from September 12, 1994, to October 24, 1994. The show used to air on Monday nights at 8:30 PM on ABC. Interestingly, three months after its cancellation, a new sitcom called "A Whole New Ballgame," created by the same team of John Peaslee and Judd Pillot, and featuring several of the same cast members like Julia Campbell, Richard Kind, and Stephen Tobolowsky, took over the same time slot. I'm also searching for episodes of "A Whole New Ballgame," but I'll make a separate post about that.
There were a total of 8 episodes of "Blue Skies" that aired, with the 9th episode never making it to television. I'm aware that finding that missing episode might be a challenge, but I'm hoping to at least locate the first 8 episodes.
The search has been a bit tricky because "Blue Skies" is a title used for various other shows, movies, and songs. So far, I've only come across promotional photos, videos, and scripts for the 1st, 2nd, and 4th episodes available for sale on eBay.
Here are some interesting tidbits about "Blue Skies" from crazyabouttv.com:
- The title for this series came from Russell, Joel, and Eve's business, "The Blue Skies Trading Company" which was unquestionably modelled after the real life company, "L.L. Bean".
- The Blue Skies TV show had a theme song that was also a hit Irving Berlin tune from 1927! It was appropriately titled, "Blue Skies".
- The Blue Skies TV show had a decent little time slot on Monday nights at 8:30PM on ABC, right after the hit comedy series, "Coach". It had a lot of competition, however, from "Dave's World" on CBS, the second half of "Melrose Place" on FOX, and "Blossom" on NBC!
