Kek became a meme due to the already existing Pepe meme. Anyway the point is that anyone with the context of knowing anything about 4chan culture would immediately know Kekcroc was 1. just a shit post and 2. probably not even intended in itself to be taken seriously by anyone in the first place. It's just a dumb joke that only someone who is unfamiliar with 4chan and thinks it's some mysterious unknowable place could take seriously for a second. It doesn't even count as fake lost media to me because it gives it the dignity of even being a hoax. It isn't a hoax, it's a stupid joke.
