A day with spongebob, it's the only search I think that has gotten extreme widespread attention that not even the likes of Saki Sanobashi can even dream of.

I wouldn't necessarily label A Day With SpongeBob as a hoax, more people letting their imagination run away with them. This was absolutely most on them for making a listing on storefronts before it had even left pre-pre-production. If something has a storefront listing, it must actually exist in some form, right? A lot of people just failed to expect that it was never made until they were too deep.
Kekcroc is less of a hoax & more of a joke pretty much, though there have been hoaxes theme around him. Plus these days Kekcroc has ascended into being a funny meme.
Dreams are boundless, imaginations are infinite, space is a multi-directional spiral & Akazukin ChaCha is my favorite anime

Yeah but from what I understand he was originally created as a hoax to get someone to make an article about him right? Regardless he is a pretty funny meme nowadays.

I was gonna say the same thing. The search for that movie is well known that at this point it feels like you can think of A Day With Spongebob as a sort of flagship movie for lost media.
Another obvious example would be Polybius. It's just spawned so much. Creepypastas, T-Shirts, that one episode of the Angry Video Game Nerd. Hell, a Polybius arcade machine even shows up in a episode of Loki, which would mean Polybius such a well-known gaming urban legend that there are people in Hollywood how know about it.
RPGMakerFan12 was one of the only searches I ever got seriously into and it ended up being an ARG. Not "Biggest", not even close, but dang, it's the biggest in my heart.
_alexpine_ on discord. 2018 was HOW many years ago?!?! If RPGMakerFan12 is so good, why isn't there an RPGMakerFan13? lostmediawiki.com/User:BrightyLighty
The Pyramid label fake Krautrock releases "reissued" by Psi-Fi in the 90s. No 1970s originals of these have ever turned up at any auction or record store because they flat out don't exist. They were recorded in the 90s, end of story.
I genuinely don't know why anyone ever took that seriously, it isn't even pretending to not be a 4chan shitpost. "Kek" is right there.
Well aware I'm necro-quoting but -- as much as I believe this was 100% a 4chan joke -- in Kekcroc's defense, there is an Egyptian god named Kek that is the primordial god of darkness and night. So it's not too far fetched. Noting on the Wikipedia page for Kek though, 4chan compared him with Pepe, so it's probably just one big self-referencing circle.

That wouldn't surprise me honestly. 4chan is one heck of an unpredictable place filled with many anons from all around the world.
