Hey everyone! For years I've been trying to track down this screensaver. I realize it's likely that it no longer exists, but it's very nostalgic for me and I would love to find it - this was back when loading a flash game took up most of my allotted internet time and I had no access to any computer games outside of minesweeper and galactic pinball, so screensavers were often something fun to look at. This was my very favorite and I was very fond of the lake creature in the same way you'd be fond of a tamagotchi or similar virtual pet. Unfortunately, I lost the screensaver in a computer crash and never found it again.
A while back I posted on reddit, but no luck unfortunately. I'll post the text of that here for posterity:
Other information that might draw out some keywords to search for:
- Sometimes the camera angles would tip up and you'd see the surface of the lake. I believe there were low poly mountains visible around the landscape, so I'm pretty sure it was meant to be a lake and not an ocean
- I'm pretty positive the lake creature had a tail fluke of some sort. It's neck didn't move a lot or go into the classic "nessie" swan pose. In my memory it was an oddly accurate plesiosaur by the standards of 2023 scientific knowledge.
- Would have been in the mid 2000s on windows vista or XP. My best guess is 2004.
- The website it was downloaded from had a handful of downloadable screensavers, maybe 3-5 or so. It was a black website with short descriptions of the screensavers that came off as very personal - a lot of 'I'm very excited to finally introduce this new screensaver, it's been in progress for a year." and giving the characters in the screensavers names and such, so I think it was an artist's personal portfolio of screensavers rather than just a website with a bunch of unrelated ones. It is not a default windows screensaver nor did it come off a disc.
- I'm pretty sure I was looking for dragon themed screensavers to download - it's possible the little creature was referred to as a water dragon or something similar.
- I was very into cryptozoology at the time, especially lake monsters. I'm almost certain the name of the creature was a made up name, not one that was derived from a real world lake cryptid. However, It was certainly in the style of "nessie" or "cressie" or "champ" - something short and cutesy.
Here are a few drawings I did of the screensaver:

When I was a kid I downloaded this screensaver, I don't remember where it was from
There was a little cgi plesiosaurus type lake monster. it would swim around a big cgi lake that was black/dark grey and you'd see different angles. I think sometimes you'd see other sea monsters swim past, but the camera was tracking one specific one. There were plants around it that were green/purple/reds that stood out against the black.
I also remember the sea monster had a name that was referenced in the title of the screensaver, like "gummy" or "rocky" or something?

Sometimes the camera angle would reveal the surface of the lake. I think the creature's shadow was visible at times.
The lake was basically pitch black and given perspective by the brightly colored, low poly plants.
Does anyone else remember this screensaver or have footage of it/any information regarding it?
