While I do kinda stand by some of the things I said, I feel like I exaggerated the importance of it all a little. Some of you guys recommended me to use an emulator, and while I would, Here's the thing.
Im a more casual kind of gamer. I like to buy games I wanna play, and buying them physically and playing them on their original hardware is my favorite way of playing videogames. While the thought of playing videogames on a computer at no additional cost sounds tempting, it doesn't have the same magic as turning on the wii, watching the little animated intro, and then eventually starting up the game.
I'm planning on getting a Gamecube, but the prices for many of the games are insane. But because of the way I've been playing my videogames all these years, i'm just gonna have to pay the price. Its just more magical playing games that way.

I emulate a lot, but I get what you mean. I prefer having physical copies if I can. If you can't do that but still want it to feel more 'authentic', maybe connect your computer to a TV instead of a regular monitor or laptop screen?
I know that there are a few companies that sell (unofficial) consoles with improvements like backlit screens, custom shells/buttons etc, but so far I've only seen this for handhelds like the Gameboy. And they're also usually equal in price or more expensive than buying an original console, so that doesn't really solve the cost issue.
I used to be WAY more into Emulation back before I got several actual consoles/games as gifts or hand me downs, and now I can barely stand it. The control scheme of keyboards just doesn't do it for me, I get distracted by other things on the computer, it feels awkward, and I had tons of trouble opening files. I would say the only reason I would use an emulator now is if that particular game is only available via that means for whatever reason.
The convenience of storing games on one PC was useful and/or seeing bootleg and/or foreign language games (not licensed over here) in action was neat, BUT you can buy a lot of those games now anyway so....
