Just curious if any more "independent" forums, like those of Something Awful, Newgrounds, Neopets, Deviantart, fansite forums, Animenfo, Anime News Network, etc. were and/or are still used by anyone here (RIP IMDb forum).
I used to be very fond of a Lemony Snicket/YA lit forum, as well as a Christian based anime forum (yupppp), and Hamtaro forum, and I'm feeling oddly nostalgic for them now. Too bad all of them are mostly dead now. The Lost Media forum is currently the only forum I visit with any regularity.
I use Bulbagarden sometimes and I use sitcomsonline for trading purposes. This forum is where I spend most of my time though.
Ah, speaking of Pokemon, I also do remember the serebii.net forum back in the day! I don't recognize sitcomsonline, looks neat!
Yeah I found quite a few rare shows I was looking for thanks to that site. I was also on a few horror forums back in the day but not so much now as I find that the horror sub-reddit has better discussion.
I used to do other forums. Retrojunk was one of my favorite hang outs back in the long, long ago, among a few others.
LMW is the first I've done message boards in maybe seven years, so I've been feeling very rusty and nostalgic getting back into looking through topics, but it's all coming back to me just like riding a bike.

Wait, Retrojunk had forums??? I just assumed they were a meme/nostalgia site? And I agree, I've gotten bizarrely nostalgic for them recently.

I wouldn't know what Retrojunk is like anymore, I haven't been there in years. I know they liked to delete articles that I posted a few times for no given reason. Probably because I wasn't in their cliques.

Those forums aren't the forums I was talking about, sad that it looks like those forums are closed even though I never used that one.
I wasn't directly part of any of it, but I knew people who had a lot of in fighting with other members on the Retrojunk forums and then decided to branch off and start their own retro community, which I joined. The other community went for a few years but then the guy who ran the place stopped paying the bills and the site went dark. Our little group then started one last retro community, just a message board, and we stayed together for several more years but even that community came apart too. Just how things must go, I suppose.
Time moves forward and people go their own separate ways. In fighting among users sucks, the same thing happened over in the last community I was in.
Sometimes I go on the deviantART forums, but there's a lot of drama
How active are the DA forums now? I had an account but never posted anything personally.
Sometimes, I wonder with all of the "issues" and "controversies" going on the "main" social media sites if random forums like those of individual sites could make a comeback. The Pandemic I know made a number of people nostalgic for the "older" internet and forums are a part of it!
