Hello, I'm quite new to these forums, but I have been searching for something for a while now and haven't had any luck. So that's why I decided to make an account.
There are plenty of fun little educational games out there, especially in the days of Flash. But what I'm looking for can directly be traced back to the Time4Learning Playground. Time4Learning (T4L) is an educational platform for homeschooling lessons. It's a pretty good platform from what I remember. However, the ownership has changed over the years, and also with the change in Flash becoming outdated on most of the Web, it likely means that their Playground content has also changed.
T4L used to have a free trial period, but right now it doesn't. I don't like to spend money on something that I won't get much use out of, and especially in this case when I'm not even sure if what I'm looking for even exists on the portal anymore.
Anyhow, most readers are probably wanting to hear about the game itself. Unfortunately I don't remember too much, but I'll share what I do know.
The game started out with a bunch of kids camping out in this forest as it's getting dark outside. They sit around for a little, then go to their tents to sleep when it gets dark. Eventually, something in the forest starts to make noise. One of the kids is awakened by this, scared. Another character gets a flashlight, and together everyone's looking around with it to see what made the noises.
This is where the gameplay starts. Move the cursor to direct the beam of light, and look for clues that any animals are around. There are multiple animals in different places, generally among the trees. I specifically remember an owl of some kind being found. Once all the animals are found, the kids feel safer knowing it's just some wild animals, and go back to sleep. After the game is over, you can either replay it, or get linked to this game's host site, which was likely an animal research site of some sort.
If you've never used T4L before, basically the Playground is an arcade you can go to after doing your lessons. It provides a limited time for students to relax. All the games are linked from different sites and usually are not hosted on T4L itself. This is why finding a lot of these games is somewhat difficult for me, because I don't quite remember all the hosts. Most of them are popular kids' games like those found on PBS Kids, but others, like this one, are more obscure.
One thing that gives me hope, is that I was actually able to find a lot of games that were in the Playground by the company Game Goo. These games were generally meant to teach grammar, language, and reading skills. A large portion of Game Goo games are survived in the Wayback Machine as well as Flashpoint. Knowing this, I hope my nocturnal animals game can be found too.
I can try to make a mockup drawing of what I think it looked like, but right now I'm limited on time. Thanks for reading and I hope this makes sense.
