Does anyone out there know what I'm referring to? The Magic Place was/is a children's television series that aired on PBS stations starting in 1988. The show was produced by the Mississippi Public Broadcasting corporation, the same company that produced 70's and 80's education kid shows like Pennywise(starring the sister from 'Good Times') , Tomes And Talismans and The Write Channel.
I've been looking for copies of the episodes since my interest in lost media was perked up in 2006. In all of that time all I was able to find was a clip of the title in a MPB 50th anniversary video on YouTube a dozen years ago and then just last year or earlier this year I found that MPB did a TV/streaming special about the history of their children's shows of the 1980's. To my joy, the entire intro of The Magic Place was presented in that video alongside a short clip of a scene between the characters. Otherwise, MPB is sitting on the entirety of the show and not releasing it anywhere to the public. I made some screen grabs so I at least have pics and acquired the TV special too.
I know the show was free to air over PBS stations starting in 1988 and going into the mid 90's because that is when I used to see it in my childhood. The series was also one of those deals where tapes were provided to classroom environments for kindergarten teachers to use in their class lessons. The only tape I've tracked down through online means is in the collection of a public library in one of the southern states but there is no contact information where it could involve me potentially buying it from them. I doubt public libraries do that sort of thing anyways.
I'm just curious if any fellow members have heard of The Magic Place or have seen it or might have some VHS copies they recorded from back in the day. I'd love to see the show again, I have many fond memories of the program. I consider it lost media because I can't view the episodes anywhere. Thanks to anyone who can help me out.
