Sorry if this is a weird question, but I'm new to this site and didn't want to make a mistake. If a show is missing episodes in its original language, but two of its dubs have DVD releases, would it still qualify for an article? Would it best be categorized as "partially lost" (because fewer than half the original English episodes are available) or "partially found" (if you total up the number of English episodes plus French and German dubs)?
I've been researching the 1976-7 ABC sitcom "Holmes & Yoyo" for a few years. The original show was in English, but only the French and German dubs have been released on DVD. Unfortunately, they have no captions, subtitles, or language options. I used Google Translate on computer-generated captions to get the gist of the plots. There may've been a Spanish dub, but I don't have info on that beyond some images of vintage tv listings.
The lost media I'm looking for is the original English, which was never released on DVD or stream. However, I've found the first 5 English language episodes on YouTube, 3 of which by an editor who worked on them, who wrote in the comments "Universal didn't save any of the English language episodes. I was personally able to save only the three episodes that I've posted." You can find those episodes (#2-5) here: www.youtube.com/@rodsfilmmasters855/videos. Episodes 1 and 3 have been posted by other people, though the ones up currently seem to be lower res than the ones I saw a few years ago.
The show flopped and only had 13 episodes, but I think it deserved better. A veteran detective paired with a rookie android partner is a solid concept and this might've been the first TV version of that trope (ABC also released "Future Cop" around the same time, so I'm not sure). Future shows with the same concept would play it for drama, but H&Y stands out by being focused on Abbott and Costello inspired buddy comedy. Sure, the material was imperfect, but the actors had good chemistry and I found it to be fun and campy.
