Information: BuddyPoke was an online OpenSocial widget created in 2008 by Randall Ho and Dave Westwood in attempt to let people interact with others via avatars. It became very popular on Orkut, and had a huge Brazilian fanbase due to it's popularity on Orkut, and on MySpace in the US. It let the user create an avatar of themselves and use it to interact with other friends via "pokes", which are animations that interact with the other user, for example, hugging or kicking.
You see, IDK if BuddyPoke can warrant a page or not. It was quite popular in the late 2000s - early 2010s and was likely known by the general public. Due to BuddyPoke no longer functioning around 2016, it already fell off by then and people forgot about BuddyPoke entirely and have moved on to other apps. However, BuddyPoke is still well-known in the GoAnimate community thanks to some people using the 2012 mobile app (which is basically found for Android and can be downloaded as an APK) for "grounded videos". videos where a character (usually characters from preschool shows like Calliou and Dora) gets punished for doing something bad. Some schools have also used the mobile app aswell and the My School Avatar app (basically BuddyPoke but for education, think of something like Minecraft Education Edition or GoAnimate for Schools).
BuddyPoke is still talked about from time to time on Twitter aswell, usually people talking about how nostalgic it was, etc.
I would like to know this because I do think it should have a page on the wiki, as some people have been quite interested about my search for the online widget. I even made a whole document about the app and the search for it called "BuddyPoke: Everything Known":
