Hey there, LMW! First-time poster here, and I come to you with a potentially lost song, one that might not have ever even existed.
So, to start off, MTX Mototrax was a pretty great motocross game for the PS2 and Xbox, and since it was an Activision extreme sports game, the soundtrack was absolutely loaded. Slipknot, Metallica, Faith No More, AFI, Pennywise, The Stooges, you name it. Potentially one of the best licensed soundtracks of all time. However, one song from that soundtrack that's stuck with me to this day is called "Lonely Punk," by a band called The Faders. To this day, I've never heard anything about this song outside the game.
I did some research and found out there was a band called The Faders - but after listening to one of their songs, I immediately knew there was no way this band could've been the ones who did "Lonely Punk." First off, they're an all-female group, while the song in the game had a male singer. Second, their style is completely different - while "Lonely Punk" is pretty straightforward punk rock, these Faders are more of a pop-rock group.
There's more information that can disprove this, too. The game's manual says the song was produced by Adam Hamilton and published by Peer Music. While it's true Adam Hamilton is a real music producer, nothing in his discography relates to the song or band at all, and the real Faders were never connected to Peer Music. Finally, the Faders I discovered formed in January 2004, while the game came out only a few months after - there's no way they could've recorded anything in time.
As for the song itself, there are a couple interesting facts about it, too. The first and more intriguing one is that it abruptly cuts off right in the middle of the second chorus. I'd accept this as being part of the song, but there's a long stretch of silence before the next song kicks in - I think it might be over a minute. The second is that the audio quality is complete garbage, meaning the song is either by a really underground band or from years and years back.
All in all, I have absolutely no clue what the hell this song is. I suppose it's possible that it's a completely different song by another band that was mislabeled, but since there's no other song called "Lonely Punk" by a band called The Faders that I know of, I find that seriously hard to believe. I'm almost convinced the song doesn't actually exist and is just a figment of my imagination. Think you guys can help me?
