Now that I think of it, could this bill theoretically enable more discrimination scams to happen all the time non-stop? I mean, if the KOSA bill is a step towards discrimination against marginalized groups(and from what I've learned it 100% is), then that would mean others who hate such people will essentially be allowed to do more of these awful scams.
Yeah that's one of the bigger concerns with the bill-it removes platforms for marginalized groups and groups at the fringes of society to communicate with each other and form support groups and conduct outreach (if desired).
It could definitely just be a coincidence or fearmongering, but I read an article that claimed that Tiktok has possibly been censoring prochoice content like "how to cross state borders for an abortion." Whether you are prochoice or not, you would agree that "freedom of speech" for "both/multiple sides" is important, right? Heck I grew up in an ultra conservative household and as much as my church community grumbled about "depraved media," the expectation was that free speech ALWAYS needed to be protected so that the lack of "free speech" would NEVER be used against conservatives in the future.
I do get that individual websites CAN make their own decisions about what to host, and of course it's in their rights to not host who they don't want to platform, but still.

Not sure on how related it is, but both this bill & PragerU have conservative roots, so...:
This video specifically talks about Leo and Layla's History Adventures, which is basically lying about & erasing history to fuel American patrioitism... kinda like what the KOSA bill could be used for(and also sorta what PragerU Kids is). Saberspark in particular noted the Christopher Columbus episode & considering what we've said about the KOSA bill possibly being used to silence marginalized groups, it makes me wonder if Columbus Day, a day in which Christopher Columbus is celebrated, could theoretically be considered racism towards Italians. I mean, like what OP said, Italy has CENTURIES of rich history & yet this freakin' guy is what Americans choose to celebrate!? I already know that, as someone with German roots, that us being mainly known for Nazis instead of the other, better things is awful, but like being CELEBRATED for birthing a horrific monster of a "human"!? Jeez!

I read it on mobile and didn't save the link unfortunately, but I will see if I can dig it up!
News out of Georgia USA: As of July 1st, a new law restricting social media use for minors takes effect today. Parental permission will be required for children under age 16 to have a social media account, and restricts usage in schools. Students must also take educational courses on safe social media use, and cyberbullying.
How do they plan to enforce this? Your guess is as good as mine. We have long had rules on social media that basically requires/requests users to be 13, shouldn't that be the parents' job to enforce that?
2 pieces of news: Prominent business website Forbes just published an editorial article on KOSA. Basically went over the points we have talked about on this thread, and concludes that that should be the parents/guardian's job.
One social media age verification bill (that originated out of Mississippi) was blocked by a federal judge. Seeing as how this is a VERY sore spot for our country and its laws (federal vs. state), going to be interesting no matter what the outcome.

While not KOSA but sort of parallel because it's also about "protecting kids" online.
So judges in Indiana blocked bills that would block adult sites unless you show ID. I guess there is a current debate about if NSFW falls under free-speech because that is sort of a grey area when it comes to the first amendment in the US.
It's also worth noting that a lot of these online bans are easier to regulate with US owned companies. A lot of adult websites have been able to sidestep the bans due to being non-US companies. But then you put the USA in a tight spot. They want to be the county of "freedom of speech" but if they really want a full regulation of this type of content, they are going to have to censor and block a lot of content.

Yeah it's a huge waste of time and money to try to enforce laws like that IMO. The biggest sites like banking websites ALREADY get major hacks because of people simply having too much to gain from said hacks (blackmail, financial reward) and said sites skimping out on decent security protection to save $$$. There is simply no way that a website can keep your personal ID information truly safe, barring top dollar in security, like certain government sites. And we all know the average site, no matter how successful, cannot afford or guarantee that. Think about how much to gain the average hacker would have in this case.
Funny I remember these same debates from the 80s and 90s, as I was growing up, but even in my ultra conservative community, free speech was still something of a sacred cow. Our social commentary books would flipflop on whether "obscenity" was protected speech or not, especially when you consider how saucy and explicit the Bible, religious literature, classic literature, Shakespeare, older pulpy novels, etc. could get. What about classic art? PLENTY of nudity and violence there. How do you even define obscenity, outside of stuff that's clearly nonconsensual (among other obvious things)?
On that note, certain states have also been trying to also ban mail-in abortion pills, which is basically impossible unless you inspect EVERY piece of mail THOROUGHLY. Besides the fact that it's illegal for obvious reasons, I couldn't imagine the ABSOLUTE COST AND TIME BOONDOGGLE of trying to inspect all 333 million people's mail (physical AND e-mail) every single day in this country. And like you touch on, you would also SOMEHOW have to win a court case against foreign companies (who sell these pills) who have no interest in complying with your government. Especially since, unlike marijuana, abortion is NOT federally illegal (pot gets really weird with state laws too, on that note). Good luck with that, government!
EDIT: Also reminded me of a saying I once heard in (ironically) far-right groups over a decade ago: "I don't agree with those things you're saying but I will fight to the death to ensure you HAVE the right to say those things."

The American government has done a lot of good and a lot of bad for people. The European colonialists did a lot of bad and some good for people. The USSR/Soviet Union did a lot of good and a lot of bad for people, especially outside of its borders. The CCP has done both a lot of good and bad for people. The Cuban government did a lot of good and a lot of bad for people. The Venezuelan government once did a lot of good for its people and seems to do less good today. Pinochet, Lee Kuan Yew, Pol Pot, Castro, Chavez, Kai-Shek, Kemal Ataturk, Mao ZeDong-all VERY complicated individuals with complicated beliefs and historical influence once you get past the initial fury of keyboard warriors biased entirely to one side.
How hard is it to JUST look at both sides and provide explanations for both sides??!!!! Isn't that what critical thinking is supposed to be about? Seriously. EDIT: Does anyone else find it ironic that the "great firewall" and "heavy censorship" and "book bans" that certain individuals/groups like the Heritage Foundation and Project 2025 and far right and far left governors are pushing IS exactly what those so-called "damned commies and Muslims" utilize abroad? Hmm....

Ironic because Columbus Day was made to be a positive to Italian Americans during a time of racism towards them.Honestly there are tons of better Italians that could’ve been used as a symbol for Italian Pride during this time.

Exactly. I can see Cristina D'Avena being a good symbol considering the amount of Italian dub theme songs she did, more than a couple of which are jamming!
Dreams are boundless, imaginations are infinite, space is a multi-directional spiral & Akazukin ChaCha is my favorite anime

Exactly,
Italian dub themes are a gift from the lord and should be a symbol of national pride for them.
I remember seeing on video how the Italians had "cartoon theme song" shows. For all sorts of shows, presumably from different companies. With how stringent US copyright can be, especially in bizarre regard to "crossover stuff" sometimes, this would likely never happen here.

And there's where an internet fanclub comes in!
