There is a lost Australian Digimon commercial that probably ran in the early 00s and had real life animals dressed up as digimon I have a few images of it that I got from someone else who is looking for it for years now but that's all he could ever find. i will attach them once I figure out how to do that

this might sound like an obvious suggestion if you've done this already but have you tried looking at commercial compilations for australia from 1999 to maybe 2002 at most? i think the run for the original series was between 1999 and 2000/2001 so it may help to look through some compilations from this time!!

i don't live in australia so i wouldn't know what channel / channels digimon would have been airing on / what affiliates might have also advertised it but if you happen to know these this might help too!! i'm thinking fox channels are a good place to start since they were the main distributor for digimon iirc. i'm a big digimon fan and i would love to help as much as i can!! <3

You're definitely not looking hard enough. Canada, for instance, has a lot of vhs recordings uploaded.

Hi! I'm the 'someone else' that the original poster mentioned (and also the YouTuber that the second commenter - lammyvox - linked).
It was likely not on cable as I didn't have cable at the time, Digimon aired in a segment on Channel 10 which was called 'Cheez TV'.

I have a feeling that it was for some collaboration with tazo-like holographic cards that were found in chip packets called 'Digi Fx' and 'Digi Clix'.

That's very helpful information. Here are the search results on the internet archive for "Cheeze Tv" there seem to be a few vhs recordings, hopefully one of these videos has the commercial. archive.org/search?query=Cheez+TV

The PDF also mentions the company (The Smith's Snackfood Co. Ltd) and might help narrow down the search even more. I decided I will write a customer e-mail to them and see if I can get some more information from them (like maybe confirm the channel, maybe info on who filmed the ad etc). I don't know if one can write the Advertising Standards Board but that might be another angle to try and find the video

I emailed them on Monday about it through both their regular enquiries and media contact emails and haven't had a reply yet.

Also best of luck Didz, let us know if you find any Digimon commercials tbh as I'm hunting any and all Aussie Digimon ads tbh.

not really related to the thread but there is a playlist on youtube with 3000+ commercial breaks from finnish tv ranging from the 70s to early 2010s
