On a few articles, I'm trying to put together playlists of the embedded videos to try and comply to the 6 embedded video rule. According to the MediaWiki wiki, youtube playlists are supported under the service youtubeplaylist. However, every time I try to embed a playlist this way, it either embeds a video that says "the video cannot be found", or refuses to embed at all. I've tried numerous times with different url variations, but none of them seem to work. What am I doing wrong?
The short answer is - I don't know. I tried to do the same thing when I was writing the Sazae-san article but I couldn't get it to work either. It might have something to do with that the EmbedVideo extension isn't updated to the newest version, but I'm not sure about which version added playlist support, and even if updating it would fix this, I don't think it's possible to do that on the current setup without a major overhaul (don't quote me on that, you'd have to ask dycaite). Sorry.
Depending on the page you're doing this for, your best bet might be to just embed the "primary" video (if there is one), and then link the rest of the playlist inside the video caption.
After doing some light research, I think that the problem may be that EmbedVideo is outdated. According to the special page "version", EmbedVideo is currently on 2.2.5. On the mediawiki page for EmbedVideo, it states that an issue relating to youtubeplaylist not embedding properly was fixed in 2.2.8. Therefore, the issue is probably because of that bug which still existed in 2.2.5. I could be completely wrong though since I don't know exactly how mediawiki works.
Shoot, yeah, I guess that's the issue then. Installing the newest version wouldn't be as easy as it might seem though, since it only works with MediaWiki 1.25+, and the LMW still runs on 1.23.6. According to dycaite, upgrading the whole site would be a massive process so I wouldn't hold your breath on it happening soon. Sorry
EDIT: Actually, 2.2.8 is the EmbedVideo version that supposedly fixed the playlist issue, and that version runs on MediaWiki 1.23+. Maybe it's possible after all?
