If you don't know who Flo & Eddie (real names Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan) are, they're a vocal pop/rock comedy duo who were active from the 1970's until recent, two of the founding members of 1960's folk/pop group The Turtles (Happy Together), two of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, musicians behind the music for Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears in the 80's, and the backing vocals on some T. Rex songs and albums (as well as many other groups they provided backing vocals for).
I've been totally invested in Flo & Eddie's discography and history for a little over a year now, and I found that a large portion of their non-album music/interviews is hard to find and unarchived. However, I've made an effort to track down some of it and upload it to YouTube, because a lot of it is relatively easy to get your hands on. I am also planning on using the channel I created for non-Flo & Eddie records that aren't online. Some of what I have uploaded isn't in the best quality, but I might try and redo it all because I have better equipment now.
Here's what I have uploaded:
- The History of Flo & Eddie and the Turtles - 3rd LP
- Checkpoint Charlie (German electronic-type album)
- Flo & Eddie Meet the Wolfman (radio interview with Wolfman Jack)
- Come to My Rescue Webelos (b-side)
- The Turtles ft. Flo & Eddie - Captured Live (Live at the Bottom Line NYC concert album)
Here's what's currently unavailable and needs to be uploaded:
- The Rhythm Butchers volumes 1-7 and sampler, Rhino Records (unreleased 60's recordings from the Turtles, I have The Legendary Rhythm Butchers Sampler, but it's warped and skips)
- Dialogues (An Intimate Audiobiography With Flo & Eddie)/The Winds of Flo & Eddie, Rhino Records (interviews, 7x cassette box set limited to 100 copies, rare as hell!)
- Radio Spot for the Phlorescent Leech & Eddie, Reprise Records
- Flo & Eddy Interview With Barry Mann, RCA
- New York "Times" 1979-1994 Live At The Bottom Line
Possibly more. The main reason I've been unable to find and archive these is high prices/scarcity (or my own apathy). Any help in finding these/other HTF Flo & Eddie stuff is greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading
P.S. I trust that nobody will do this considering there's probably not going to be a lot of eyes on this post and I'm sure everyone who will see this knows better, but don't even think about going and harassing Mark and Howard on their social media pages about this. That is the last thing I'd ever want!
