OK, I know I am trying to maybe dig up something that is very obscure but it’s something that I think about a lot.
My college library was giving away books for free and one was a collection of American Scifi stories from the 60s or 70s. I remember one of the stories in the book was by Isaac Asimov, tho I don’t think he’s the author of the story I am looking for. I no longer have the book because it had mold and I was worried it would damage my other books.
One of the stories I read was about a detective in the future. In the story, they mentioned that is was normal to get sex change operations. The main character mentioned that she transitioned to a man, then transitioned back to a woman. It was just a normal thing people did and it wasn't demonized and there wasn’t any transphobia about it. I wasn’t able to read the whole story and I sort of want to.
I don’t know if the book I read ever got reprinted or if this story was ever printed in another complication.
