whats your favorite type of lost media

Also I didn’t realize I basically shared the same opinion on here twice. My mistake.

Lost Bumpers, Commercials and PSAs.

Do you remember a weird ass bumper you seen on Cartoon Network in 2002 but can't find it anywhere? How about that odd commercial that only aired a couple of times in 1999? What about that creepy PSA from 2012? This is the stuff I love to look for. I know at lot of people in this community feel that the lost advertising is not as important or exciting as lost tv pilots or movies but I love hunting them down.

Yeah. To be honest, whenever I see clips from cancelled movies in animation demo reels, I just get tempted to reach out to the animator, and ask for a copy of the film, in the sense of “ok, I have to know the context behind this!”. 

The problem is though, I’m just anxious about reaching out. I could think over the same sentence like, 100 times, and it would still come out offensive, lessening my chances of retrieving said media. 

I just don’t trust myself to reach out to them tbh. I’m considering asking Ziggy Cashmere for advice to work around this. (I saw you two argue on the “I’m very tired and irritated with this community” thread, things got very heated).

As for the argument, don’t worry about it! He probably just had a bad day (hopefully, it’d suck if he turned out to be an asshole in real life, he’s been pretty chill with me whenever I talked with him, so the former may be the case). 

I believe Alexis wanneroy would be your best bet, as he worked on both Larrikins and B.O.O, and likely has finished (well, as finished as they got before being canceled anyway) copies of both movies. 

To be honest, I’m trying to eventually get a whole collection of canceled movies to watch offline, just for fun. Plus, I’m sure dreamworks wouldn't mind. They most they could do is maybe take the uploads down, but that won’t be enough. The popeye animatic is still up for a reason (I’ve actually seen this one like, 20 times, and had it for over a year). 

Independent media: Whether it's some lost Mario fangame that was on the internet for like, a day or two, or it's some hilarious & silly old school film by a bunch of random 3rd graders, they are the kind of stuff I love to see just randomly be talked about & surface!

manga pilots/oneshots. manga pilots were often designed as oneshots and sent to various publishers who would post them in manga samplers and magazines. if the readers liked them they would be made into full series and printed. the magazines sometimes have interviews and other content that no-one has really been looking for. I currently have a stack of samplers I'm going through to see if any aren't accessible online yet.

I agree 100%. Existence unconfirmed lost media is so fascinating to me because such a category of lost media leads to LOADS of weird possibilities, especially when it comes to the internet or video games(& definitely web games for sure). I myself had a case of this with a PS2 basketball game that turned out to be real(it was Backyard Basketball, albeit a pre-07 game). There is also the long rumored Mad on the Commodore 64 which had music by Adam Gilmore, some of Home Vision's Atari 2600 games(Challenge, Pizza Chef & Words-Attack), that mysterious "Doremi" cartoon that aired in Australia(all we know is that it most likely is NOT Ojamajo Doremi), the supposed Odette cartoon from the Netherlands, The Haunted Pork Burns Unit, the Undumped Wiki's strange game titles, David Crane's Atari 2600 motorcycle games, the 2005 PC game Wanted: Smokin' Guns, etc.
