I am hoping that both this and All Dogs Go to Heaven get uncut Unrated releases in the future. Maybe they can make 4K restorations in both the original G-rated cut and a new uncut Unrated version.

Just a correction, all dogs go to heaven was always supposed to be rated G. I’m sure copies of the uncut version still exist. I plan on making a thread for deleted scenes for other Don Bluth movies in the future.
Plus, as much as I want it to happen, an extended cut of The Land Before Time would likely not be possible, even if the footage is in good condition, considering most of the more well known edits were cut before a score was made.
Considering James Horner, the original composer for this movie, died back in 2015, and it would probably be too expensive to hire another composer to mimic james’ style closely for the scenes, they would have to release the post-production cut as an extended version instead.
Because of the issue mentioned above, inserting scenes like the extended sharptooth attack, extended climax, flower scene, oasis scene, and other’s wouldn’t be possible without spending millions to finish them and score them, or just removing the soundtrack from the movie entirely.
I think it would be better to just release these scenes as bonus features (including minor edits, such as extra lines of dialogue), and leaving it to fan editors like bobson dugnutt to add them back into the film.
I think a workprint/test screener-style edit for the movie that uses scores from other movies prior to 1988, replacing the existing soundtrack, removing all the narration, and reinserting deleted scenes would be cool.

You know what, after the land before time, I should make more threads on deleted and extended scenes from 80’s animated films. Not just Don Bluth ones by the way, also ones for films like The BFG or The Black Cauldron.
I can’t be the only one who thinks commercials and tv bumpers are completely overrated. I see them getting all the attention, while searches like these barely ever get any attention. It’s bordering a full-on disliking of them.

Anyone else?
I think they're overrated too, i'm pretty sure there's already a thread for Black Cauldron though i've never heard of The BFG.

Glad to know I’m not the only one. As for The BFG, there was an entire scene where Sophie and the giant were relaxing in some hot spring cave, and Sophie accidentally wandered onto a giant insect, which dropped her onto a giant.
She then bolts off and hides in a cave, only for the BFG to find her.
The storybook features 10 animation cels from this scene, and it was likely cut before it was screened to Roald Dahl. There are probably more deleted scenes than this, but this one (commonly referred to as the “Insect Scene”) is the most well known.
Considering the company that originally produced the movie shut down (I think), and the rights were given to a different company, it’s likely this scene is gone forever. I really hope it still exists though.
I believe scribbles to screen made a video on it over a year ago.
Also, just curious, did garret respond yet? If he hasn’t, it’s probably because he’s busy with mark 5. I’m sure he’ll eventually see it (I hope).

I’ve just been told, one can make private messaging threads for stuff like sharing crew member’s contact info. Anybody here know how to make one? I’m on mobile if that’s important.
Also, 100 posts! Nice.

By the way, just wanted to share this response from Stu krieger (screenwriter of the film) that a user on the gang of five forums got (the thread is called “Outcut Scenes, and has 36 pages).

I’m gonna have to try using the wayback machine to find John Pomeroy’s email.
also, I notice not that many people are responding here anymore. Is that just because threads usually aren’t very fast, or something else? I’d love to know.
