There’s a piece of partially lost media I’m looking for: a full, unedited recording of the Radio Disney Totally 10 Birthday Concert (yes, they actually called it that) from 2006. It was basically Disney’s attempt at their own Woodstock, but for kids. It was live-streamed on the Radio Disney website, kinda like Slamfest. Disney later released a DVD of the concert, but they apparently cut out some songs.

I found an interview where Bowling for Soup lead singer Jaret Reddick recalls the concert. He describes it as BFS’s only “G-rated show” and how they had to sing the songs with altered lyrics. However, the only song they’re shown performing on the DVD is “BFS Birthday Song,” which Jaret says was written specifically for Radio Disney, so it never would have had explicit lyrics to begin with.

For those who don’t know, Bowling for Soup recorded alternate lyrics for some of their hit songs so they could get played on Radio Disney. For example, “I almost got drunk at school at 14” is changed to “I almost got punk’d at school at 14” and “She was gonna shake her ass” is changed to “She was gonna shake it right” (though ironically, Jaret’s guitar has a sticker that says “WHOOP ASS” which he either forgot or neglected to cover up). He says that it was a “great challenge” to sing the altered lyrics at the concert.
