The first time i'd heard a story related to lost media was the infamous Rude Removal episode of Dexter's Lab when I was still in middle school. I had seen it mentioned some forum and at the time thought it was some sort o joke until they released the censored cut. Years later, BlameitonJorge released Top 40 Lost or Banned Episodes of Kid Shows and I began becoming fascinated with lost media.
That lost DL episode was especially fun since it was the earlier days of the internet that people spread around whispered rumors of it all around conventions and forums, but no one could truly verify if it was ever truly shown anywhere, or even existed, or in what form it would exist. We got to see that one play out in real time throughout the years, with little hints being dropped here and there, to being fully "found" (aired) on Adult Swim and confirmed for good.
Introduction to the website or the concept? I guess I'll just assume the question concerns introductions to the concept. For me it's probably just how later in life after having the internet around for twenty or so years and YouTube showed up that I began looking for TV related things from my childhood such as commercials, cartoons, education shows, Etc that I remembered but weren't exactly in a state of being super available. That's what got me to spending years scouring YouTube and other websites over the years looking for things from my youth where I've found lots of it and there are still lots of it to find.
Reading about and digging into the Christine Chubbuck story is what introduced me to the Lost Wiki site, however, and then from there it spiraled into looking up articles and videos all about the various other lost media still out there.
Now I snap up whatever I find when it's available online because I never know when someone will delete and hide it again from the world.

For me, it was BlameItOnJorge's video about 50 banned cartoons that got me intrigued about the subject around 4 years ago, but it wasn't until Youtube started recommending LSuperSonicQ videos to me that I became hooked and wanted to learn as much as I could.

Around 2020 when everyone was online a ton more than before. I remember I got really tired of waiting for yandere sim to update and wanted to explore the horror genre more. For a few hours I listened to true crime podcasts and found blame it on jorje’s video on Clock man. I was invested and discovered hours long iceberg videos about lost media. Ever since then, lost media has been one of my top interest

In 2017 when I discovered Canimals had a pilot version and I was amazed and I wished it could be found. Glad I've been able to find so much new content related to it since

Reading about lost literature. We will never have the complete Trojan epic.
More contemporary stuff I guess would be lost TV and radio. Very little TV in its infancy starting from about 1928-48 was ever recorded. Very little radio from the 1920s survives, except maybe as transcription discs sent out to radio stations (and those were made out of low quality shellac or aluminium)
