Nobody I ask remembers this, but I swear I remember seeing a trailer, for a fighting game with realistic-looking Mario characters and actual Mario sound effects, several times. It doesn't look like something Nintendo would have made, as it was kind of graphic. I don't remember the exact year, but, based on the time I saw the trailer, it seems like it would have been released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Wii, and maybe PC. I've looked it up, but I can't find anything on this. If anybody remembers this too, please let me know. Thank you. -nostaljik

This may actually appear to have been a bootleg going from how you described it...I don't think Nintendo would release games exclusively on consoles other than their own.
Could you be thinking of the Wii U version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2? It had Nintendo-themed costumes for the characters. I don't hear any Nintendo-themed sounds in the trailer, though...

The first thing I thought of was Kart Fighter lol.
But yeah sounds like a mod or something unofficial due to the graphic nature you described, plus there's definitely no way an official Mario game was on 360, PS3, etc.

Not sure what else to make of this.
Same with me, I knew that this was just fan-made modification purposefully made to be darker and edgier than the original Super Mario Bros. franchise inspired by it and the series has always been known to be on pretty much every console Nintendo has made (with the exception of the Philips CD-i and there were planned to be three games for it (Super Mario's Wacky Worlds and Mario Takes America) but only Hotel Mario was officially released).
The fact that you described it being on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 pretty much gave it away that it was just a fan creation and not a real Mario game.

I never said it was an official Mario game. I'm just describing what I remember. My guess was that the creators were sued by Nintendo and therefore the game didn't get a release.

The first thing that comes to mind is Super Mario Spikers (https://www.mariowiki.com/Super_Mario_Spikers ), but that game never got a trailer. The fact that it would be on all non-nintendo systems makes me think that it probably doesn't exist, though.
It's definitely not Brawl. This looked more like a traditional fighting game.
OK, since you have said that it is not Super Smash Bros. Brawl (which was a Wii game released in 2008), I want to ask you a few questions about what you remember seeing and tell me a few details you remember from the trailer you watched sometime ago:
1. What time do you remember seeing the trailer for the game you described (what website do you remember seeing it on if you don't remember the exact date when you watched it)?
2. How realistic were the graphics for the game (did it fit in with the new generations of consoles at the time like the Wii, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360)?
3. What exact sound effects (both well-known and obscure) from the Super Mario Bros. franchise do you remember hearing in the trailer?
4. Do you remember the roster of characters from the trailer that the game boasts about (also, is the cast of characters going to be huge like the franchise's spin-off sports series or small like the series' party and RPG spin-offs)?
I ask you these questions because I want a clearer understanding of what you are trying to find (from the looks of it, it seems like it is going to be a fan-made modification from an official PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 fighting game that allows the player to make their own characters or a mod of an existing fighting game like the Mortal Kombat franchise judging by how apparently graphic the game is). Thank you if try to answer my four main questions.

1. What time do you remember seeing the trailer for the game you described (what website do you remember seeing it on if you don't remember the exact date when you watched it)? I'm not quite sure when I saw it, all I know is that it was several years ago. I remember seeing it on TV, though. 2. How realistic were the graphics for the game (did it fit in with the new generations of consoles at the time like the Wii, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360)? I don't remember how realistic it looked as I was young and I didn't really pay attention, but it seemed to look pretty good for the consoles at the time. 3. What exact sound effects (both well-known and obscure) from the Super Mario Bros. franchise do you remember hearing in the trailer? I believe I heard the sound of a Koopa Troopa shell being kicked, and collecting a Coin, both from Super Mario Bros.. There could've been more, though. 4. Do you remember the roster of characters from the trailer that the game boasts about (also, is the cast of characters going to be huge like the franchise's spin-off sports series or small like the series' party and RPG spin-offs)? I don't recall seeing a roster, just the characters in action. I remember seeing Mario and Luigi, and for some reason I feel like I saw Daisy, but I'm not quite sure. This was a long time ago, so I'm sorry if I'm being too vague but this is just what I remember.
