Communiqué was a decently popular alternative band from the 2000s, existing as a side project to punk group American Steel. Anyways, I was looking through their discography on Discogs and noticed there was no trace of their first release, Roses Are Black - a three song demo EP.
This was a digital-only release that has since been purged from the internet. I asked the band, and they told me to put in a word with 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. I did, thinking they might have access to the MP3s, but they had no clue what I was talking about (though props to both parties for getting back to me).
Anyways, I'm pleased to report that I was able to recover two tracks from different sources:
The other (Carrie Anne) was released as part of the Fat Wreck compilation PROTECT: A Benefit For The National Association To Protect Children. I've ripped and added that in as well since that comp is not available on any digital platforms.
The third track remains missing - "The Best Lies". This appears to be a reworking of the song of the same name from their Poison Arrows album (readily available online), or it could even be a straight re-release of the track itself.
That's awesome and I am happy for you. Lost music always drives me nuts because it's like "Will anyone ever hear this tune again?"
He cut his trail of tears across the countryside And where he went, women wept and men died One night he woke from a vision of his own death Saddled his pony and rode her deep into the West
Thanks, I always imagine if someone was looking for this like I was, I wouldn't want to hoard it away and keep it out of potential fans' hands.
Amen!
