The Long March (长征) is a patriotic wargame for Windows PC made by Golden Disc Electronic (金盘电子), a company from China, notable for making China's very first original commercial game, Magic Eagle (神鹰突击队). The company was also famous for making several patriotic wargames, use them to teaching history and cultivating patriotism, the producer Yang Nanzheng (杨南征) is a retired PLA military staff and exprienced in military simulation.
The game is based on the real historical event, same as the title, the Long March, where you play as CCP's Red Army fighting against KMT's army. One of the interesting things about this game is that you can participate in different conferences and political struggle, you choose different politburo members and give speeches to decide the next move, the Red Army may lose because of your bad decisions.
Everything in this game is based on real events and people, making it very unique as such topic is very sensitive in China, not to mention you can even make the CCP fail, but apprantly back in the 90s they were very open-minded about it, it was endorsed by Administration of Press and Publication, Central Propaganda Department and Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. It's hard to imagine a game like this today, most patriotic games in China are about resisting Japanese invade long before the CCP came to power, and a few are set during the Korean War, which is also a somewhat unique and sensitive setting, but this is the only one set in the Chinese Civil War.
The game was about to be released in 1998 and a playable demo was shown at an exhibition, but the company was aquired a few months before release and the game development department was subsequently shut down, so the game was cancelled and never released.
I found the news report about that exhibition, a few gameplay was shown near the end: mega.nz/file/evpm3SoY#2X6MW1TlQNA_frx4mc7uPgmgW8dgDdyQjit5e52K4OU
According to an interview with the producer in 2015, the game is already done and he's still holding the sample disc in his possession.
