Tumblr has found their very own ADWSS. Only this time, some footage has actually been found.
Some background info: And Now This was a Nickelodeon variety show pilot that was known to have only aired once, sometime in 1998. Rosie O'Donnell and Coolio apparently hosted it, and the only thing that was known about the content of the show was that there were sketches with large human-sized puppets. For years, there were no videos or even screenshots of the special known to exist; the only proof of its existence for a while was a handful of news articles from the late 90's mentioning its name, a mysterious forum thread discussing "new episodes," a couple Wikipedia articles mentioning it in passing, a post on an r/tipofmytoungue-esque TV Tropes forum, and even a forum post on the Lost Media Wikia from someone who said they had a recording of it, but never followed up on his claims. All these pages and more can be accessed through this Tumblr post, which is where the search for this thing began.
If you click on the "#The search for And Now This" hashtag and scan through the several posts that have been made these past few months, you'll see that some videos containing footage from the show have been found, all sourced from a demo reel by a puppet troupe called Big Nazo that worked on the special. This is a pretty huge find, you see, because before these videos were discovered, nobody knew of any footage of this thing existing on the Internet. You'll also see in one of the recent posts that someone contacted Big Nazo, who responded back saying that there were actually two episodes of the show made. This conflicts with previous notions that there was only one episode.
Now, this post is meant to summarize everything that's happened in the search thus far and bring it to the attention of the LMW, as I see nobody here is aware of it. I also see there's no article for the show (I might write one in the future if I find the time and effort to do so).
If anybody has any interest in these two episodes, please consider taking part in the search for them. It seems like contacting people who worked on the show is the best way to obtain footage, so we should probably start there.
Anybody interested?
