Open a Door is a British show made by Ragdoll Productions (aka the lads who created the Teletubbies) through the 90s and early 2000s.
As their website describes,
"Open a Door was a collaboration with overseas broadcasters in worldwide locations. Initiatied by Ragdoll it features small children leaving their home and encountering the world where they are before returning home. 53 episodes x 5 minutes. Four series shown in the UK between January 1994 and October 2003."
While the show itself was never that famous and the majority of it is considered lost media, i remember an specific episode that was really intresting and abstract. I am not making any of this story up. Here it goes:
I think that the episode itself was from the 90s series, due to how it looked. It probably came from eastern europe, i don't remember where the short was from. In a nutshell, a boy accidentally locks himself out of his own home. Realizing that he can't go in as he doesn't have the keys, the boy, along with his dog, starts to squeeze his eyes with his hands and imagines some things to make his boredom go away. He first imagines a tree that changes through seasons. Then, he imagines a rather unsettling looking clown, that do some tricks and vanishes. Then he starts to imagine some random characters like a burglar holding a comically large key, some cops that run against eachothers, a tuba player, a firefighter, a coal miner, a postman and his mother. After a long time, a cuckoo clock inside his house rings, and the boy's imaginations try to break in the house, with no sucession. Then, finally, the boy's mother comes from work, and opens the door. Before entering the house, the boy gives a single glance into the garden of the house, seeing the clown again. He enters the house.
Some technical details included:
1) The hallucinations had a weird effect applied to them that i can't exactly describe. It was like something out of a dream. A daydream.
2) The hallucinations constantly vanished and reappered, there were even times when a lot of them were on screen.
3) The cops that ran into eachother didn't touch themselves, instead, they disappeared, like it was just some man running and them the video was mirrored in two sides.
