I've been searching for a series of animated shorts for years with no luck.
They were shown in the 1980's I believe during Nickelodeon's Eureka's Castle in the USA (though it may have been during the in-between shows space). I believe the nation or origin was Australia, given the subject matter (Australian animals and history)and the accent of the narrator. The animation style was in the simple pencil and crayon look of Henry's Cat and Rhubarb the Dog - white backgrounds and limited animation.
The narrator was a woman who did all the voices. The shorts revolved around a female yellow monster (a bunyip?) who looked a lot like a shaggy ostrich. She lived in a billabong and would help the animals who came there with their problems. It was super cute and charming. One episode involved teaching an emu how to walk in high heels because she wanted to look fancy while posing on the Australian coat of arms.
It was shown pretty often on Nickelodeon in the mid to late 80's but I've never heard anyone mention it nor heard anyone remember it when I ask. I have no idea what the name was as they were shorts and I don't think there was a title card.
I drew a picture of what the main character looked like. Does anyone else remember this?
