Hello everybody! This has been something that's been on my mind for awhile, but I figured I would bring more attention to it.
In the 2nd Trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish ( youtu.be/RqrXhwS33yc?t=82 ) , a remix of the song "Narco" by Timmy Trumpet and Blasterjaxx is featured in the latter half. Like a lot of made-for-trailer remixes, this is a specific "trailerized" edit, similar to other remixes that would soon be used for the movie's trailers. However, unlike those remixes, I cannot seem to find who could've been behind this remix. It should be noted that this is a common theme for Dreamworks trailers, using trailer-specific remixes that are otherwise unknown (Trolls 2 and Boss Baby 2 also do this). A possible theory is that they do their music in-house, but almost every movie studio ever outsources custom trailer music to companies that specialize in the matter, so this might be unlikely.
- POTENTIAL LEADS -
- Q-Factory Music, this is a trailer music company that has had many placements throughout the years, which includes (but is not limited to) Puss in Boots 2. Their website nor their socials don't actually specify what work was featured in this campaign, so it's still up in the air if they actually did it
- Colossal Trailer Music / Trailer Music Brigade, this is the trailer music company responsible for the remixes of "All-Star" and "Cafe Con Leche" in the 3rd trailer, amongst other stock and custom compositions
- TRANSIT (beintransit), an editing agency that has edited a lot of the Puss in Boots TV Spots, some of which use this remix in question
- Spinnin' Records, one of the record labels that owns the original song. They have a post about this placement on their website's "Sync" page ( spinninrecords.com/sync/%27Narco%27-by-Timmy-Trumpet-Blasterjaxx-in-%27Puss-in-Boots/ )
- Cloud 9 Music, an Amsterdam based record label that had posted about the placement on Facebook
