So many years ago, I had first discovered “hidden tracks” and was discussing them with someone I knew who said that they had an album by a jazz/alternative group that had a country song about robots at the end of the CD. They thought it was Built To Spill, but it seems she was mistaken, and I’ve never been able to find out what exactly it was from. Does anyone know what she might have been thinking of?
First result for "country song about robots" though this wasn't a hidden track. So IDK. Obviously answer of the Flaming Lips. Indie Rock might be a good place to look since she initially thought it was Built To Spill but I have no idea what bands would do that.

I guess it’s worth mentioning that I remember her saying the album had 17 songs plus the hidden track, but I think that was probably just an estimate, and most likely a high one, since 18 tracks is a lot for an album. Anyways, I might try asking her again, since II know her on Facebook.
I'm sure this isn't it at all, but there was a backwards hidden track in "mono puffs" "it's fun to steal" with text to speech that makes me think of robots. but pretty much everything else you said bares no resemblance. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBmX5CAFop8
I animate, I collect VHS tapes, I breathe in and out and walk around sometimes

Wow, that was creepy. I’m sure that’s not it, but thanks for sharing.
An update, though: I actually heard back from the person who first told me about this, so maybe she can help.
