Yes, her FIRST! And also her LAST!! Ha ha ha!! Yes, silly all right!
So I have created this article on this mysterious lost 1979 animated movie based on a now-obscure Belgian comic:
Yeah, as a French kid born in the 1980s, I was still familiar with a lot of old French and Belgian comics from the 1960s... including this one...
Remember when comics had warmly painted covers? You couldn't go cheap Photoshop filter then!
There are a lot of great names involved in the credits of this movie, from the little information you can find. Many of the animators named are known professionals who did Asterix and Tintin cartoons before. Many of the English dub actors are very famous. And yet, this movie doesn't appear anywhere in their filmography!!
Elizabeth Hurley as Sophie? Oh, Behave!
This movie has become a real mystery... was it so bad, weird and/or embarrassing that everyone preferred to never speak of it again?
Or did they suddenly realize that a comic that was already second-fiddle among the other comics of the era NOT the best material for a release in the US AND the UK?
"Will you have Fun!!" Oh yes, I will indeed, Sophie! Have fun searching the everloving heck for this movie that seems to have vanished from the face of the Earth!
It apparently had help from Disney for a release, with a different dub cast just for that!! THREE different dubs, just for ONE language!! And that's for an adaptation of a comic nobody outside a few French speakers knows a damn about!
Here Comes Sophie...
Here LEAVES Sophie... to never come back, it seems!
