LMW, but because A) Fandom/Wikia is laggy as hell B) LMA useers don't to much to find a certain piece of media. And C) Who likes LMA anyway? They're traitors.
You realise the LMA is literally just our old Wikia homebase, but they just renamed it and made other people admins, right? When we moved, Wikia would not let us shut down the old one. It's LITERALLY the old LMW with a changed name. You can even still see all of my edits on there.
It's pretty interesting to think that the community has grown so large that a lot of the new users aren't even aware of the old history with this Wiki. I never thought about people assuming there was a competition between the two.
The only reason why the Lost Media Archive exists is because when the main community moved, some people saw it as an opportunity to grab power and take it for themselves without the admins control. Back then and even to some extent nowadays, you can still see how poorly managed and maintained it is because there's no authority to keep it tidy like this site.
There used to be a pretty big divide in both sites, back when this site was still under construction there was an effort to migrate everyone over but it was met with tension. A lot of searches happened in the comments section on the old site and people didn't like how the forums replaced that. I remember a lot of people complained about the interface too and refused to move over.
This was during the height of the search for A Day With SpongeBob which was happening in the comments section of the article, I was definitely one of those people who didn't want to move because I was worried it would kill the search. The only reason why I did move was because there was this infamous troll who would make dozens of to try and throw off the search in the comments. With all the admins having already left, I decided to move everyone here and that's when we started talking in the classic thread that Hastings made.
I'd love to do a video about this early history some day.
LMW > LMA, and for me personally, it isn't even that close.
The Lost Media Wiki's big draw to me, personally, is quality control. Most LMW articles are very well made, and the worst articles you'll find are either too short or just formatted wrong. It's hard to find a quality articles on LMA. The articles there are filled with grammatical errors, no consistent formatting, 1st person writing, stubs, and some just feel like 8 year old writing articles on playground rumors. There's also a barrage of hoaxes and joke articles there. About 6 months ago, I found a joke article on someone calling the pizza they ate at Chuck E. Cheese "lost media" - and it's still up. I have to admit, it was funny, but no self-respecting wiki should have shitpost articles like that up for that long.
The design of the website is also something the LMW excels at. It's clean and modern, while the Lost Media Archive is dated, cluttered, and just plain ugly.
I love how someone on the LMW is asking us if another website is better than us. It's like asking an athlete on a team if another team is better than them lol.
Lost Media Wiki hands down. I checked out Lost Media Archive and there was an article about Graggle Simpson on there; everyone knows he is fake.
He cut his trail of tears across the countryside And where he went, women wept and men died One night he woke from a vision of his own death Saddled his pony and rode her deep into the West
