Hello! I'm here with a bit of an obscure thing from Spain I remember from my childhood:
You see, when I was a kid, I remember seeing this one add every winter for a cold medication that always unsettled me.
The add had a man on the screen, and they described symptoms of a cold, and relating them to vegetables. As different symptoms/vegetables were mentioned, parts of the man's face changed to said vegetables. In the end, there was a usual "but with [blank] you won't have to worry anymore!", or something like that, and the man went back to normal.
The way his face changed into vegetables felt extremely uncanny to me, and freaked me so much I would simply look away.
Things I don't remember exactly:
- If the face of the man was a real guy, or a CGI one
- If you could see the neck and shoulders, or if it was a disembodied head
- If you could see the neck and shoulders, or if it was a disembodied head
- Exactly how many vegetables were, and in what positions of the face (I'm pretty sure a red bell peper was his nose, 2 tomatoes were his eyes, and I believe his ears and mouth changed too)
- If the man looked uncomfortable/in pain when he changed to vegetables (My heart says it does, but my mind tells me it didn't)
- I don't remember the name of the medication exactly, but it was a very common one
- Not sure when it aired, but it had to be between the late 90s and the early 2000s
- Could've had translated versions for local languages like catalan
- Could've had translated versions for local languages like catalan
Things I do remember:
- White background
- Kinda crude/early CGI used for the vegetables
- Aired for a few years during winter/cold season, and in different channel stations (The ones I can point to the most are TVE, Telecinco, and Antena 3)
I honestly thought looking this up would come up with results, since it was an add I remember they repeated a LOT back then, but after talking with someone today about lost media, I remembered this add and when I tried to look it up, I couldn't find it anywhere.
Here's a drawing of what I remember it looking like:
It would be cool to find this again, just to know if it was as unsettling as I remember, or not.
Thanks anyways!
