Hi. im trying to find an old western film from my childhood, it's been over 40 years since I last saw it in a small local theater. I felt as if it wasn't real with how much of a hazy memory it was, but after talking to my mother she did remember taking me there, so hopefully with the information I give. this can let you internet sleuths help me find it, and i'm sorely appreciative of it:
1. I watched it in a local theater at Greenville SC.
2. the opening panel was of a painted background with some houses, like an old country road, with yellow text of the title
3. There was no dubbing over like in older western movies, the microphone picked up what the actors directly said on set, but also picked up really loudly if chairs were being moved or even foot steps.
4. The movie was trying to sponsor some charity event.
5. it was at least the late 70's or early-mid 80's when the movie came out. I don't remember my age when I saw it. At the absolute most I was barely in my double digits of age 11 or 12 at most.
6. One scene I remember specifically, was towards the latter half of the film, was a gunfight in a dense forest. I think.
this is all I can remember for now, I'll ask my mother what details she remembers in the mean time and I'll try to bring in updates.
Talked to my mother today and she gave me a lot more information to go off of.
it was around 1983 and 1984.
The plot revolved around a gang invading a town to take over as territory, and ended with their arrests, the movie marketed itself as family friendly. Live action, just to add context.
the main hero, the sheriff had a white hat, and blue button up with an open collar, like the ones you saw in the 70's, with a brown vest. The main villain, the gang leader had a black outfit, with some white trim on the shirt to provide contrast. The film was produced in the local area. She also said the main theme sounded like the beginning of Cool Water by Sons of the Pioneers
I'll start asking some of my friends who are from my time to see if they remember the movie.
