There's a very old cartoon I been wondering about for some time. When I was a kid, we were given a bunch of vhs tapes many had tapings of old school cartoons on them such as Popeye, Superman, Bugs Bunny etc. Many of the tapes didn't have labels either. One cartoon in particular I recall was probably the oldest of the bunch.
The cartoon was black and white and took place in a kitchen. There were several anthropomorphic fruits and vegetables dancing and singing around. The main character I believe was a potato and he was having fun dancing around with his sweetheart until she was kidnapped by some badguys they took her away kicking and screaming and the potato guy had to find her and save her.
I know it's not a whole lot to go on it's a fairly standard plot for a cartoon of that era. I always found it to be weird and a little mysterious though likely because it was on an unlabeled vhs tape and my only real exposure to classic cartoons at the time was Popeye and Bugs Bunny. I had no idea there were other lesser known cartoons like that lol it also may have been the first truly black and white cartoon I watched.
Idk how i missed this reply but that cartoon is eerily similar to how i remember it... It could very well be it. But i do remember more food items not just eggs.
Well, there is bound to be one obscure weird cartoon to show up at some point on one of those tapes. Van Beuren's cartoons are particularly obscure & ignored, though most have been available throughout the years.
Dreams are boundless, imaginations are infinite, space is a multi-directional spiral & Akazukin ChaCha is my favorite anime
I have seen that before but its not it. I'm pretty sure it was the black and white version of that Humpty Dumpty cartoon mentioned above. I must have just misremembered the other food items cause that plot is way too similar

Apologies for the bump, but it's likely the cartoon is actually "The Fresh Vegetable Mystery", which features a potato cop. Thing is, it's in color, but it was also featured on a lot of cheaply-made cartoon tapes. It's very possible that one of them used a black & white print. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo6s1JWtJyw
