I want to preface this by saying that this started from this youtube video, if you know Italian you can watch it and find out information in a less condensed form:
Also there has been a little bit of a search, chronicled in this video (once again in Italian, both of those are on the wiki already)
Also there is a wiki article already, but I decided to make a forum post to kickstart a discussion. Also, feel free to add the images I'll link here, I can't because I SUCK at wiki editing lol
Essantially, this Youtuber had a Super8 cartoon for a while and decided to check it out, to find out that it's apparently lost media, currently, only three episodes have been digitized by him for preservation and there is no more information about the series.
BUT there is some, read along to find out.
Polistampa s.p.a. Milano is one (of two) names attached to this production, which is quite unfortunate as there is, to our knowledge, no information about it online. Not helped by two different companies and a place having the same name existing, but with one headquartered in Florence and doing funerary art, the other a book publishing company, and the other a closed typography.
That name also appears in another seemingly lost cartoon too, Miagolao e Gedeone, so that may be another entire rabbit hole eventually (and it has even LESS info too).
This studio may have been succeeded by Studio GLM, as the animator of this cartoon worked for it
The other attached name is of the animator, Giancarlo Marchesi, which only has a single credit on a Carosello program, "La linea" carosello.tv/animatori/giancarlo-marchesi/ which ran from 1969-1976.
He might have had a fellow animator's wife, and their name appear together in this interview where they were seemingly working together at studio GLM www.ilsestantenews.it/libri-e-fumetti/lo-studio-glm-e-romano-scarpa/
There are no credits for the dubber of the cat, unfortunately, so this is a dead lead. A theory is that it could be Silverio Pisu, as he dubbed a lot of fairytales and has a similar voice. He is, unfortunately, dead since 2004 too so no chance to ask him for info.
A small mystery is that in the digitalized reel, there is some overdubbed audio, almost as if part of the original track was recorded over, and it's related to the cartoon too so it's not random garbage (and not a narrator). This happens twice, and it seems like a reaction to what is happening. Also, you can hear a faint sound coming from a TV in a clip too (some people say it's the dub of Mazinger Z).
He might be Romano Scarpa from GLM as an interview with him shows him having a similar voice www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdDzHECY13Q
The reel that was first found has two different episodes for 8 minutes total, a longer one that is dubbed, and a shorter one that isn't.
I say first because then this happened
This shorter reel only has one episode, which was different and has no dubbing, much like the bonus episode of the bigger reel. It's also in black and white.
BUT, the episode clearly has dialogue as the lip flaps are animated, it's just not in that particular copy (maybe a cheaper reprint?) so this is a mystery within a mystery.
And that's all the info I have gathered from both videos, hopefully, someone can help us out
